What Are Dry Baby Wipes?

Dry baby wipes are a type of cloth or paper wipe that does not contain any liquid or moisture. By removing the moisture two magical things happen. 

1. There is no need to add in antibacterial chemicals to kill mould that grows in moist environments 
2. The product is lighter and therefore has a lower carbon footprint to ship. 

Dry wipes can be used for a variety of purposes such as cleaning up spills, wiping faces and hands and as an alternative to traditional wet wipes for babies. 

Dry baby wipes are often preferred by parents and caregivers for several reasons. Firstly, they are free from chemicals, fragrances and preservatives that are usually present in regular baby wipes. This makes them a safer and more natural option for sensitive skin. 

Secondly dry baby wipes are more environmentally friendly as they are usually made from sustainable materials and can be reused multiple times. This reduces the amount of waste produced and also saves money in the long run.

That means they’re the purest baby wipes you can find. Simply add water to create the ultimate true ‘water wipe’, you can also add in essential oils if you choose.

By removing the chemicals we have also removed the chance of our wipes causing nappy rash, or reactions, making them the wipe of choice for parents with children with sensitive skin. 

Secondly, Zero dry baby wipes are super soft and don’t create micro tears that can lead to infection and rashes.

Better yet, when used for messy faces and hands you can simply rinse our wipes and use them again (Psst not sure about rinsing our wipes? Chuck them in the washing machine. The strong material fibres will hold tight and your wipes will come out fresh and ready for reuse). 

When it comes to the planet, our baby wipes also punch above their ‘weight’. Being dry wipes they weigh a lot less than traditional wet wipes meaning they have a lower carbon footprint when shipped (see what we did there). 

Not only that, our baby wipes are also 100% plant based, made from sustainably sourced certified FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) wood pulp that will naturally biodegrade in your compost. 

This means that unlike traditional wet wipes, our wipes have zero plastic, yep you heard right, almost all wipes contain plastic and are only used once. 

How much plastic is in baby wipes?

Unfortunately almost all baby wipes have plastic in them or are wrapped in plastic. The most common form of plastic is polypropylene terephthalate (PET) or polypropylene (PP), which is used as resin and woven into the wipe. These plastic fibres take over 400 years to biodegrade into micro plastics (because plastic never goes away!). 

Every year  3.4 billion kilograms of wipes are thrown away each year? That’s roughly 1.3 billion wipes a day which are thrown in the bin. Not only that they are also flushed down the toilet where they cause harm to sewage piping and marine life. 

The amount of plastic used in commercial wet wipes varies by brand, read the label to make sure your wet wipes doesn’t contain plastic. 100% of wet wipes on the market are wrapped in plastic wrapping at this stage. 

Are Zero baby wipes really 100% plastic free? 

Yes, when we say zero we mean zero plastic in both the wipe itself and the packaging. That means that zero plastic goes to landfill, zero microplastics end up in our oceans and bodies and babies get the purest wipes without the nasties.

Absolutely. Zero baby wipes have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they are hypoallergenic and safe for the purest of skin. Our wipes are certified by OEKO-TEX Standard 100 an independent test that guarantees product safety for skin sensitivity. 

Unlike other wipe brands, we don’t need to add in any chemicals, that's right zero! So, if you’re concerned that chemicals in the wipes you are using for your newborn may be causing a rash then give our wipes a try. Remember it can take 2-4 weeks for a rash to clear up once the irritant has been taken away.
